Geraldo claims all the illegals just want is to come here and be part of the American dream --- how about those who marched in immigration protests waving Mexican flags? How about those who demand bi-lingual education and a "right" to our taxpayer-funded programs and services?

I'd like to know if Geraldo's book has a Spanish edition also, or is it just for us Anglos so we can feel guilty?

Where does Geraldo get his statistics? He needs to come and live in my neighborhood. Illegal immigrants have taken our area over. Crime has increased---a neighbor's car was stolen, and I witnessed an attempted car theft. Graffiti is everywhere and it's all because of illegal immigrants. It wasn't like this 18 years ago when my husband and I first moved into this neighborhood. I'm sick of elites like Geraldo telling me I'm a racist or bigot just because I want the laws enforced. The Irish didn't come here and reek havoc. I'd like to see how Geraldo would feel if this happened in his rich neighborhood. He needs to quit comparing this mess to when the Irish immigrated to this country. Also, if they're learning Spanish at fast rates, how come we have Spanish billboards everywhere. And how come every time I buy something, I have to look for the English on the packaging. I have a sister-in-law who came from Greece when she was nine. She came home from school crying every day because she knew no English. They didn't start teaching her in Greek. She had to persevere and learn English.

Geraldo is making our argument for us ... whether he knows it or not. He's saying that Mitt Romney lost because of his determination about Hispanics and that is why Hilary is losing now. The facts are .... we have an immigration policy which allows only so many from each nation EXACTLY FOR THIS REASON. Geraldo, in essence, is saying that it's the Hispanic who will be electing our next president! That takes away the voice of the rest of the American people and it changes our entire culture. And THAT'S WHY WE are worried! We are losing our culture, not to mention the cost of the illegal issues financially. Love ya, Laura!

Subject: Geraldo
1) Mr. Rivera's implication and suggestion is that "Americans" fear hispanics. In other words Hispanics are the "new" Blacks. The suggestion is insulting

2) I grew up in Southern California in the 50's, 60's and have family there now. Spanish/Mexican influence was the dominate culture in just about everything but language. I grew up loving Mexican food, Hispanic design, architecture, traditional dress. Will this be forced to go the way of political correctness because I am not of Hispanic origin and therefore can claim no right to the enjoyment of the Hispanic contribution

3) Just who are the Anglo founders of whom Geraldo refers? As a Catholic and a Californian, most of the "founders" were not Anglo.

4)My husband's mother is Mexican and his father is Irish.
He looks Irish. According to Geraldo, is he one of the dreaded Anglo's

5) As with fashion, proclaim it and they will bite! If it is claimed, through assumptive language that Americans are afraid of Hispanics, then it will become a popular truth.

6) There is a difference between fear and anger. Now, if Geraldo's assertion becomes common lingo, any statement about a broken law, or a risk free "loan" will be coined fear.

Geraldo is apparently for the bankrupting of the US in the name of open borders. Hospitals are overrun and closing near the border and in larger cities where the illegals flock to. Those who aren't even legally here are in line before our own citizens, who are trying to utilize US health care facilities, only to be turned down or waiting for hours b/c of illegals using hospital emergency rooms for their every need to include childbirth.

When you can't afford to eat in certain restaurants, you don't go there and order, then tell them you can't pay.....SO you shouldn't sneak into the USA and take advantage of health care, schools, welfare and other citizen benefits, when you don't pay into the system via taxes.

Geraldo is hopeless Laura, please just spare us all the agony of shouting at our radios!!

I'm a Latino who knows for a fact that Geraldo is dumb. I worked for the state of California. The documentations he quotes are false. Just like the statistics he gives are wrong. 400 people use one number which has not even been issued by the SSA office. I worked for the state of CA and know that to be a fact. I know they do not work in the crops by in large as the dummies like Geraldo do. They do take jobs other then agriculture. I could go on but it does no good to give this info to people who don't pay attention.

I am infuriated at Geraldo's insinuating that we don't want illegals here because we are afraid. I for one am not afraid, I am enraged that we are having them shoved down our throats. It's hard to go into a McDonald's around here without the employees speaking Spanish to one another. It's my understanding that the state of Maryland has approximately 100,000 a month apply for a driver's license. We are expected to provide English lessons to them, take them on without question, providing health care and education and overlook the fact that they are given a free pass on breaking a law which we are never given. I even spoke once to the Chief of Police of my small town that is being over-run with illegals and told him, I want a free pass on breaking a law. Tell Geraldo to stop talking like we are idiots.

Mr. Rivera says that "illegal aliens are the most law abiding citizens in the country". "Illegal" is by definition NOT legal, therefore one CANNOT be law abiding AND illegal at the same time. Furthermore, "alien" by definition means NOT a citizen; therefore one CANNOT be an alien AND a citizen of a country simultaneously. . . but, then, he calls them "immigrants", so I guess that nullifies the pretzel logic.

Thank you.

If we stop obeying and enforcing the law, America is changing in a horrible and dangerous way. The issue is obeying and enforcing the law and not whether they are Hispanic or anything else. And, discussing past immigration doesn't change that fact.

By the way, I am the son of legal immigrants who followed the rules and became American citizens and I am deeply offended by any suggestion that I anti-immigrant or racist.

Good job with Geraldo.

What I noticed today is what a big racist he is.....I don't think he realizes it of course. Half of the illegals in this country are non-Hispanic. He really hates the American people, doesn't he?? We are the kindest most giving people in the world to immigrants....I know bunches of legal residents and they love the fact that they are never bothered by anyone in this country. We just want some control of our borders....IS IT TOO COMPLICATED FOR YOU GERALDO!!

He came across really stupid today, by the way. DOES THE WORD BUFFOON FIT YOU, GERALDO!!!

Hi Laura,
I'm a big fan of the show, and truly enjoy your insight and analysis on political topics.

Anyway, I just listened to your back and forth with Geraldo Rivera, and I'm blown away! Of course, the Hispanic culture has made a tremendously positive impact on American culture, and I honestly can't imagine America without Hispanics ......Speedy Gonzalez, salsa, Taco Bell, Jennifer Lopez, and so many professional baseball players. (Just to name a few)

Having said that, how on earth can he compare the Irish, Italian, German, and Israeli immigrants of before - to the illegal Hispanics of today? It's just plain unfair and irresponsible, when you consider that the European immigrants did not come here to make this country an extension of the homeland. Italian Americans didn't want signs written in Italian, so that they could understand it. Israeli Immigrants didn't want their school books in Hebrew, and German immigrants did not wave their German flags shouting "The Race".

Americans are not racists when it comes to the Hispanic community......we just want our laws upheld. Is it too much to ask that when there is a law in place, we expect people to abide by it?

Keep up the great job, and continue working for the Conservative movement!!

I even forgot I had the flu--hey, that could be your first miracle if your cause for canonization is ever introduced. I will testify!

I liked your use of quotes and the "billboard" facts that you used throughout the book. They make great talking points.

I'm been obsessed with the Republican Campaign since the Fox Forum debate. Can someone tell me why John McCain is the national media darling? I can only think it is because they want to destroy our party. My husband and I will sit this election out if our nominee is McCain or Huckabee. If age ia a taboo subject, why isn't religion? John McCain is 72 years old - imagine an Obama/McCain debate in October. I cringe. Huckabee is scary and won't play nationally. Romney is the guy - now imagine a Romney/Obma debate in October (or Clinton) - he really could win any debate against those two. No one is giving Romney a chance. It really should be Romney vs. Rudy now if our party is smart. The other three don't have a chance in November to win - real clear politics should be real clear about that - Republicans - listen to the current Pepsi commercials - WAKE UP! The media is stealing our primary...don't let them steer your vote.

I sent a note to AE the other day after seeing a massive in-store poster of a teenage girl in her underwear, legs spread. It took a couple pics with my phone. It's the only photography facing the mall between the entrances, and it also faces the store on the flip side. She's young, Laura. You can look at a cropped-version of the same photo (shows less crotch) on their website. From the home page, click "aerie". Their response was prepared, proving they knew what they were doing, and really lame, the same old PR/Legal dept. crap: "We are projecting the image that young women should feel comfortable in their own skin." I can send it to you if you like. I've also been cc-ing O'Reilly. There were no photos of women in underwear anywhere in the mall, let alone provocative, let alone teenage girls. I have a real-real tree. Each Christmas season, we purchase a live tree that has the roots in a pot. We then put it in the house and decorate it. On Christmas Day, we then transfer it outside and plant it in our yard. We have done this for thirty years, so after a few years, we start cutting down the mature ones to burn in our fireplace during the Christmas tree. A fun tradition. The only trouble is using too much eggnog when we plant the tree on Christmas afternoon. Sometimes the tree is planted crooked. We have to insulate the roots, but they always survive.

I vote for a fake tree, but it must LOOK REAL. We switched to a nice, real-looking fake tree in 1966 after not being able to find a decent shaped tree for a decent price. My husband was a fireman and we had a baby so we were also very fire-conscious. We were never sorry we switched.

IT IS A WONDERFUL FAMILY TRADITIONS, WITH THE BOYS OUT IN THE WOODS GETTING THE TREE AND MY DAUGHTER AND I GETTING ALL THE DECORATIONS READY AT HOME. real: expensive, easily dried out, fire hazard. nostalgic, smell good. hard to care for
fake: initially expensive, doesn't dry out and is not a fire hazard, can look real if you get a good one. pays off over time

every fire fighter I know has a fake one, cause they fight so many fires from dried trees, and so many kids die.

Last night I was able to listen to the beginning of your show, and you brought up the topic of real vs. fake Christmas trees. That same topic was talked about in our home a few weeks ago. I brought up the idea of getting an artificial tree. The only reason I even thought of getting one was the cost. Real trees are getting expensive and in two years you would have an artificial tree paid for. My husband looked at me, then asked "Do you want to support a USA Christmas tree farmer, or the manufacturers in China?" Of course my answer was the USA farmer!!! That question also made me think, "How much lead is in the artificial trees from China?" I wonder if they will ever test for that?

Thank you for everything you do for America!!!

Hey, Laura:
Now I know why you are so busy--you not only have your own strenuous host duties to fulfill, you are busy writing the headlines more than a week ahead of time for the flap doodle NYT staff. You said it on The View some 8 days ago, that things are looking up in Iraq and people are returning, which is now the cover story on the retrograde NYT. And they ridiculed you for your comments, which shows that you are honest, accurate and even prescient, and they are CLUELESS! Congrats to you. More gooooooooood news, Hillary is 4 points behind BO in Iowa. And why? Because her OWN VOTERS don't trust her. Hmmm. Now THAT is significant, and it all started with the self-inflicted wound she opened on the Russert debate re Spitzer's stroke of stupidity on illegals and driver's licenses. You were all over that story too, and you no doubt helped galvanize people into deciding against such a dumb, Hillary-serving idea. But it turned out Spitzer was Santa Claus, Russert was his elf, and we got an early Christmas present! And even better, it is a gift that keeps on giving! Hopefully, this political wound will continue to bleed up to election day. I love you, I do, you are everything to me...
