Lie of the Day Archives
Lie: The poster child for the Republican strategy is Jim Bunning.
--Nancy Pelosi. If only.
Lie: The [health care] plan that I've put forward is a proposal that's basically somewhere in the middle.
--President Obama. The guy we put in office is basically somewhere between "shameless liar" and "severely deluded."
Lie: We have to pass [ObamaCare] so that you can find out what is in it.
--Nancy Pelosi. We have to stop ObamaCare because we know exactly what's in it.
Lie: The bottom line is I don't believe we should give government...more control over health care in America.
--President Obama
Lie: This is what we heard at the health care summit. They said if we had fewer regulations on the insurance companies...somehow market forces will make things better. Well, we've tried that.
--President Obama, slandering Republicans in Pennsylvania today.
Lie: We [Democrats] spend our time meeting our ethical responsibilities to the American people by doing the job here for them, to making sure the leadership we provide and the legislation that we pass is in the people's interest.
--Speaker Nancy Pelosi on why Dems are attempting to pass a bill no one wants.
Lie: When the bill is in its final form and people have a chance to look at it, I think they will understand that this bill does not change the status quo on abortion....There will be no federal financing of abortion.
--HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius on ObamaCare.
Lie: The strategy of the Republican leadership, including Senator McConnell, is to block and delay everything, drive Congress's approval ratings into the ground, so they can tear this place down.
--Harry Reid's spokesman Jim Manley.
Lie: When it comes to domestic policy, I have no more important job as President than seeing to it that every American who wants to work...can find a job....That was my focus last year, and that is my focus this year.
--President Obama in Georgia. Really? Could have sworn you've been talking about health care for the last 12 months...
Lie: The bill can be bipartisan, even though the votes might not be bipartisan, because [Republicans] have made their imprint on this.
--It would also be a lie to say Nancy Pelosi isn't full of it.

Quote of the Day
I [talked with House Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman] yesterday. I said, 'You keep saying you want to keep current law. I gave him the language [that describes current law]. He said 'But we want to pay for abortions.' I said, 'Mr Chairman, we don't do that now, we aren't going to start.' He said 'But we think we should.'
- Pro-life Rep. Stupak (D) on an encounter with Dem leaders.
