Rep. Stupak's ObamaCare vote
Kim L. from Marquette, MI on March 10, 2010
I live in Rep. Bart Stupak's district. Don't count on a vote against ObamaCare from him. Remember the Clinton impeachment trial? The vote came down to the wire. Bart said he was on the fence. The local papers had a big picture of him on the front page saying he just wasn't sure about his vote. After Clinton survived and gave his speech, guess who was standing directly behind Clinton? You guessed it: my previously-"undecided" congressman. Stupak is a big union supporter--enough said.
Rep. Stupak and abortion
Carol O. from Garner, IA on March 9, 2010
I just called Rep. Stupak's office to ask him not to vote for ObamaCare. I told his staffer that there is more wrong with it than just abortion funding--the elderly will be denied care in the name of cutting costs. His staffer defended ObamaCare, saying it would provide care for everyone and increase the care that people receive, regardless of age. Stupak's office acts like the Congressman has made up his mind! How can he claim to be pro-life if he gives in? What is he getting in return for his vote? Can he be so naive as to think Obama will change the Senate bill so it won't fund abortion with our tax dollars? Don't count on Stupak or other so-called moderate Democrats--there is no such thing.
John Avlon and centrism
Roger R. from Granbury, TX on March 8, 2010
John Avlon's position on centrism in the Republican Party is all based on pandering. Ronald Reagan exhibited leadership. Reagan was unabashedly conservative and articulated a conservative vision for the nation--he set a goal and inspired others to work towards it with him. That is the definition of leadership. People left, right AND center flocked to him because of his leadership, not his pandering.
Sen Bunning
Kathy K from Sacramento, CA on March 5, 2010
Your show for Senator Bunning was absolutely on point. As you read off the names of those who did not support him, I sent off emails to them - especially Susan Collins. Thank you for keeping us informed!! I am so glad to be a 365 member!! I will keep the emails going to those "Rs" who voted to keep spending. God Bless You
A good, solid A+ on the week
Lori B. from Hays, KS on March 5, 2010
Thanks for a very entertaining week! The sob story Olympics had me howling! LOVE listening to you and being able to online via Laura365 when I can't catch you on the radio.
Obama's props
Christopher S. from Boston, MA on March 4, 2010
Regarding the white lab coats at the White House ObamaCare lecture/photo op yesterday, it must be remembered that the American Medical Association only represents 20% of all doctors. What an insult to our intelligence to use health care workers in white coats as a backdrop to another proclamation from the White House!
Moms in the military
Lesia W. from Bowling Green, KY on March 3, 2010
Who better to serve in the military than moms? They have eyes in the back of their heads; they can multi-task and do at least 5 things at one time. They can hear a conversation several feet away; they have a built-in GPS so they can get in their car and find their AWOL teen in no time. They know when someone is lying to them. Shoot, I bet if you put a few moms on the job they can find Osama in no time flat!
Sen. Jim Bunning's stand
Mary S. from KY on March 2, 2010
I am from KY and proud of Bunning for standing up for what is right. The spending in Washington is insane and today, no one but Bunning is really taking a stand. Thank you for all you do to bring us what we need to know.
Freedom Czar apparel
Van W. from Florence, SC on March 1, 2010
Just got my Freedom Czar sweatshirt in the mail. I love it; it's nice and warm in the midst of the global heat wave! Thanks for what you do, Laura!
Curling
Michele D. from Los Angeles, CA on February 26, 2010
THANK YOU for venting on curling... I needed to hear someone else vent on it. I finally got the kids to bed the other night and was SO EXCITED to sit down and watch some downhill skiing... and CURLING WAS ON!!!! So, I turned it to the news for awhile and it was worse than the curling... So, then I thought I ought to give it a try. BOY WAS I WRONG ON THAT!!! Torture!!! By the way, didn't you find yourself watching their shoes? What are those things? Why don't they slip and fall? Do you think Nike makes those shoes?
